Honestly the best wedding makeup & hair I could have asked for. I love that she used airbrush for foundation, my pet peeve with make up is cakey skin and she made sure I had glowing skin. I felt like such a beautiful bride. Mayra was able to do Me the bride, a couple of my bridesmaid, and my mom hair & make up and my grandmothers hair. We were right on time with our schedule. She is very charismatic and a great person to work with. Your wedding day is always high stress but she did a great job. If you want to feel super beautiful on your wedding day or any other special event. All I can say is don’t think too hard and just Hire her you won’t regret it.

I called Mayra to help me with my wedding that was going to be in 29 Palms in April 2022. We switched plans on a dime and decided to get married on New Year's Day 2022 instead. We had just 3 weeks to prepare and thankfully the world stops on New Years Day so she was available to switch the dates. The first time I talked to Mayra about the desert wedding I was immediately grateful. She was kind and genuinely cared about her role in our special day. Her congratulations and excitement were not perfunctory, they were heartfelt and I was aware of her deep care immediately and was so grateful that all my searches had led to her. Mayra is a loving, gentle, soul. You know this immediately when you speak to her. When you meet her you find a talented, present and engaged artist from that amazing space as well. We did our trial just a week before the Jan. 1 wedding. We talked and laughed and bonded over everything. I am not a make-up girl. I am a wash and air dry hippie type for my hair too. None of this is a comfortable process for me. I always feel awkward and insecure with too much attention. Mayra assured me over and over again that if there was any time for this pampering it was essential for my wedding day and I would not regret it. When she was finished with my trial hair and make-up I was stunned. She transformed me completely but in the softest, most natural way I had ever seen myself. She literally brought my wedding day dream to life and I left that day knowing I made the best investment in myself for my wedding. I got married in a beautiful, old home in Upland, CA that was build in 1906. The home had a dedicated dressing room so Mayra and I spent that time together. My nearest and dearest friends floated in and out of the room while we were getting ready. All of them loved Mayra immediately and we all had fun laughing and talking while she transformed me once more. The love of her craft and talent was a warm, kind blanket that held me for those two hours. I knew in my soul, she was delivered to me for this day and this time. She took care of my every need and even made sure to feed me while we waited upstairs for the guests to settle and the ceremony to begin. I will admit, when you don't wear makeup, it's always a strange feeling when your make up is done because it feels like so much. For someone like me, lipgloss feels like overkill next to my tried and true chapstick. Having Mayra do my makeup however, felt like second skin and she truly adhered to my hope to be as natural as possible. Hair: AMAZING. Makeup: AMAZING. The compliments and accolades never stopped, the entire day from my friends and family. I never felt more beloved or beautiful in my life. We got our formal pictures back from our photographer this Valentine's Day. Our mouths dropped. Mayra said the makeup would really pop in the photos and wow, I could never have imagined something so exquisite. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE how amazing I look and cherish my photos. Mayra is everything you could ever want in getting your hair and makeup done. Everything you could ever want in meeting and connecting with another person for any special event upcoming in your life. She has a heart of gold and literally the Midas Touch. So much so that I made sure she and her daughter stayed with all of my most precious friends and family for our wedding ceremony and reception. She is a gift.

Mayra is a talented hair and makeup artist. She knows what she's doing to make you look amazing. I couldn't have choosen a better person to fix us up for my sisters wedding. I will definitely be booking Mayra again for my next event.

I'm sad to have to write this review, but I think it is important that I share my experience so that you can make an informed decision. I hired Mayra to do my hair and makeup for my small, informal wedding, and my #1 request was that I look great for my photos. The makeup was good, but my hair was NOT. I am not a young person, and believe me when I say I know how to handle my own hair and how it behaves. I just wanted it professionally done and styled for my wedding, but I shouldn't have been so trusting. Mayra did nothing to mitigate any frizziness, and unfortunately by 4pm it looked as it does in my attached photos here. She argued with me about what I needed to tame the frizz, and after the event when I complained to her about not getting a fair exchange of value for the services provided ($150 for what you see), she tried to blame me again. You see...I have been getting my hair done for decades, and I don't think I have ever left a salon with such frizz. I am perfectly capable of creating my own frizzy hairstyle!!!! And this was my wedding! Furthermore, my hair holds a style forever. I know this. So I don't know what Mayra did, but it was quite literally the worst professional style I have ever had. I didn't know that smooth and shiny hair would have been such a big ask considering that whenever I leave a regular hair stylist my hair looks great. We spent well over $1000 on a professional photographer, but no amount of photo shop can fix the hair style. Furthermore...it was SO embarassing having my hair look this way at my reception dinner. The only consolation Mayra offered to me was another hair service at a salon 60 miles from my house. Like I'm going to have another wedding??? Pictures are worth 1000 words. Don't shoot the messenger. Buyer beware. EDIT in response to Mayra's defensiveness (as expected), lack of accountability, assumptions, untruths, and straw man argument below: My post was simply about the quality of the way my hair looked and letting you all decide if this is how you would want your hair to look at your wedding (and pay $150 for the pleasure). It is not a fair exchange of goods for the value. This is not professional work. However it seems as though Mayra stands behind it. I'm really sorry about this as she is a very sweet person. Nevertheless, her work her speaks for itself. EVEN IF, my curls did not hold (which never happens for me), at VERY LEAST, shouldn't my hair have looked smooth and shiny for my wedding and not like I just got out of the pool? Unfortunately, she is now also going down some rabbit hole of connecting my frizzy hair result as having something to do with a lie she is sadly telling about me adding on an extra hair service for the other girl at the last minute. If necessary, I could share the texts where she stated "If anyone else wants to add they can pay Saturday that's not a problem," or "We have enough time" or "Yes it will be fine to pay tomorrow so if anyone wants to add we can."

Mayra was absolutely amazing! Not only does she do amazing work, but she is incredibly sweet! I have extremely thick hair and my updo for my wedding stayed put all night! My makeup also looked absolutely gorgeous! She made me feel like a beautiful bride for my wedding and I definitely would recommend her! 😊
