- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The first step in vocal instruction is discovering the student's natural voice. Students then learn to practice age-appropriate vocal exercises, breathing technique, pronunciation and placement, and songs in a variety of styles. In preparing for recitals, students learn memorization strategies and performance skills. Later they learn how to prepare for auditions and performances and how to care for their voices. Piano, guitar, and other instrumental students will be assessed to determine their level of accomplishment, unless they are beginners. An interesting curriculum in a variety of styles will be provided as a basis for learning to read music. I also teach each student music theory and songwriting.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a credentialed music teacher with a K-12 teaching credential. I teach voice, piano, guitar, ukelele, band instruments, and songwriting. I also enjoy teaching preschool music.
