Introduction
Hi, I'm Marianne Barlow, a singer-songwriter and music teacher with a certificate of music education from Cal State East Bay. I've been teaching private music lessons since 2016. My specialty is piano for young beginners, but I also teach beginning to intermediate guitar, ukulele, songwriting and music theory. I taught preschool through third grade for 18 years before becoming a music teacher, so I really know how to connect with young children on their level. Private lessons are an incomparable opportunity for you or your child to learn a new skill YOUR way. I call my business Organic because I meet each student where they are and use a combination of lesson books, games, internet resources, and activities to help you meet your goals and play music that you love. My two kids have taken piano lessons with Marianne for the last 2-3 years and it’s been one of the best decisions made. They both have learned to read and understand music, and have a greater appreciation and respect of music as a whole now. Most of all they love going to lessons and learning with her. When my older son started taking lessons on new instruments in school, it was amazing how easy and fun it was for him because of the knowledge he already had. Can’t say enough good things about the skills and practices they’ve learned taking these lessons with Marianne.

My now teenage son studied piano with Marianne for many years. No matter what my son’s mood before his lesson, he always came out happier, excited and enthusiastic about music and what he gad learned. Her patience, creativity, and unwavering positive attitude are inspirational! I cannot say enough good things about our experience. Here is what my son says, “she is really supportive and flexible. She has curriculum if needed but also is 100% behind you at all times. If you want to learn a certain song she’s all for it. She is an incredible person and teacher.”

My daughter really enjoyed her time learning from Marianne. She's a great teacher, very knowledgeable about a ton of instruments, and is supportive but will also push her students just the right amount. The music parties were fun and provided great milestones for my daughter to work towards. Overall we had a great experience!

Marianne is an amazing piano teacher. She makes learning piano fun for children. She’s always encouraging. And she is supportive of different ways that children learn. Anyone would be lucky to have Marianne as a teacher!
