FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Each project is unique, so we create a project specific scope of work based on the time it will be required for us to complete the design. For interior design specific projects (furnishings, lighting, millwork), we typically provide a time/ cost estimate and bill by the hour so we can tailor our fees only to the services you need (we find that interior design projects vary in scope significantly as they progress, and we prefer to not send frequent change orders). For remodel projects, we will start with an hourly billed "feasibility study" to create a floor plan for your project (this floor plan will have city codes incorporated and the program you are hoping to achieve with your project). We then recommend reaching out to contractors with our as-built drawings and proposed floor plan to have them provide estimated project costs for your project. Once you are comfortable with the costs from the contractor and the scope, we will bill the remainder of the remodel design, construction drawings/ permit set at a fixed fee. Happy to clarify more of this via a Zoom call!
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Our typical process starts with a Zoom call with the you to talk further about your project and determine if we might be a good fit. If we are, we will send you an estimated furnishings cost for your project as well as our estimated interior design fee, estimated "feasibility study" fee, or "fixed fee" remodel design + construction drawings/ permit set costs. Please note that we cannot provide construction costs at this time because we are not contractors - we would need proposed floor plans for a contractor to provide their estimated project costs (hence why we always start remodel projects with our "feasibility studies." If our estimated costs look good to you and you are interested in proceeding with the project, we can meet you onsite to meet you and see the space in person. We would then write a formal proposal and request a deposit before proceeding with work on your project.
