FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge $110 for a 1 hour massage and $140 for an hour and a half. I do not charge for dressing or undressing time or for consultation time. Your time begins when I place my hands on you and begin working on you. This way you are only paying for the actual time spent receiving your massage.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I use a questionnaire to help me quickly focus in on the needs, issues and past problems that are relevant to why the client is seeking a massage at this time (I.e., if due to recent injury or illness; if needing relief from pain, increasing circulation, or simply seeking relaxation and more restful sleep). The questionnaire also alerts me to past injuries like broken bones, or whiplash injuries or medications being taken (like blood thinners for example) that would cause me to modify my depth of pressure or specific modalities that I would use with the individual. After making the appointment, I call and remind the client the day before to ensure that they remember their appointment day/time and to reassure them that I have them on my calendar. As I begin working on them I explain a little of my philosophy about doing bodywork; about how important communication is to the healing process, about no matter how well trained I am, or how expert I have become at doing bodywork, they remain the expert when it comes to their body and how much pressure or which strategies or modalities they want employed when working on them.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
For my initial training and certification, I attended the Alive and Well Institute of Conscious Bodywork. I then pursued advanced training and certification in Deep Tissue, Thai, Pregnancy massage, Pressure Point Therapy, Lymphatic Drainage, Reflexology, and Level 2 Reiki (energy work).. These advanced trainings took the better part of 10 years. In 2018 I received another 119 hours of advanced trainings in connection with receiving my State if California certification as a massage therapist. I also received certification as a Reiki Master in 2018.
