Introduction
Hello! My name is Jacob and I am a multi-instrumentalist. I play drums— which is my main instrument— guitar, piano, and I sing. I have been performing for the last 12 years in the Los Angeles area and have held residencies at various venues including Downtown Disney and Disney’s California Adventure Food & Wine Festival. I’ve been teaching for the last four years with various music education institutions such as Los Alamitos Youth Center and Jazz Angels Long Beach and I am currently leading a marching band at Jackson Middle School in Paramount. I have experience with both group lessons and private lessons. I earned my Bachelors in Music degree at Cal State University, Fullerton where I studied Jazz/Commercial Music. I love to teach and can’t wait to work with you!
I typically structure my lessons around the learning style and needs/wants of the student. I like to help you achieve your goals! And if you don’t quite know what those are yet, don’t worry, we’ll figure them out together.

Jacob has been teaching my brother Kyle drums for years, and he's been fantastic. Kyle's drumming skills have improved a lot, and he's much more confident now. Jacob is patient, knowledgeable, and really dedicated. We're very grateful for everything he's done and highly recommend him to anyone looking to learn drums.

I love Jacob! He’s super personable and delivers the material in such a methodical manner that’s easy to understand. I also love his ability to quickly give analogies so that the concepts, such as rhythm within certain time signatures and the importance of dynamics, are easier to conceptualize. Learning really feels like a musical conversation with him and, as an adult student, that style of teaching really helps!
