DJ Gumsoul dj'd and mc'd our wedding -- no easy feat, as it was on a Sunday by the beach. But he was all over it, expertly putting together a set list of our favorites and some tracks that perfectly captured the mood, tone, and were time-of-day appropriate. Dance floor was loaded the whole time. He's pro and I'd hire him again in a second.

I've hired DJ Gumsoul for house parties, work parties and my wedding after party. On all occasions he was great. Playing the type of music we wanted and adding his own flair and fun music choices. He always gets the dance party going! Also, he's just a great guy to have around at any event you have. Highly recommend him!

DJ Gumsoul MADE our wedding!!! Everyone was on the dance floor all night, and every new song that came on was met with cheers! All of our guests were talking about how amazing the music was, for weeks afterward! I would highly recommend DJ Gumsoul!

DJ Gumsoul did our wedding reception. I wanted a killer dance party and it was non-stop the whole night. All great songs. Everything just flowed. He really knows how to read a crowd too. We had a mix of older songs and new ones, plus a few great ones people hadn't heard before. He's really easy to work with and listens to what kind of party you want to have. We had a couple of must-play songs and a couple don't-play songs and he respected that. I would 100% endorse him for any event. His knowledge of all genres of music is amazing.

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Once I confirm the date, hours, and details of the gig; I meet or speak with the clients and find out how they want the event to go. What kind of vibe/musical genres/etc do they want the music to be? Once I get a framework for what they want (or don't want, which can be just as important), if it's a Wedding or something similar, I will also go over the timeline and what songs are needed for specific moments. If I'm providing sound for the ceremony, what processional/bride entrance/recessional music? Then what songs for parent/child dance, first dance, etc.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've been spinning professionally for more than 10 years and also graduated a DJ academy. I minored in Music at Occidental College as well.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I love music and introducing people to new and amazing music. I was always by the stereo at the party so it was a natural step to take it to the next level!
