Tristan was amazing, so glad I listened to his suggestion of having him bring in some of his other talented musicians to add to the lineup, grand piano and all. Everyone had a blast and they even welcomed some of our guest to join in on their instruments and mic. Will definitely book him again!

In one lesson, Tristan offered a lot of useful information about playing guitar. He also seemed to really enjoy teaching, which makes for a fun lesson. He knew I was struggling with thumb joint pain and came with strategic stretches and healthy playing technique tips to help me avoid doing further damage. He also offered exercises for memorizing notes on the guitar and introduced me to triad chords for easier playing than the barre chords I was used to. He travelled to my house on a Saturday evening, which fit great with my schedule. I highly recommend Tristan as a guitar teacher!

Tristan is the consummate teacher. He has a deep understanding of all aspects of the guitar. He not only is a great player himself but he's a wonderful teacher. He has an uncanny ability to take various concepts, some of which are complex, and simplify them with well thought out explanations that often involve apt analogies to non-music things. Some guitar teachers simply teach patterns and forms but never really get into what is behind those things. Tristan makes sure you understand the "why" behind what you are learning which always leads to a better result. Tristan has unending knowledge of music from his time as a performer and Berklee College of Music but his teaching style for me which characterized technique as meaningless without application worked amazingly -- every new skill was taught through actual music. I often feel like I need to know the "why" behind good music or interesting progressions, and he provided that analysis alongside the where and how musical ideas could be placed. I came in with ~5 years of self taught experience and felt like every lesson was an overwhelming amount of information. Would recommend bringing a device to record with to get full value.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I maintain a small and selective roster of 1 on 1 coaching clients. I am looking for passionate guitarists of any experience level who are committed to elevating their playing. Premium Coaching Plan: $680/month (2 45min sessions per week, practice video feedback up to 3x/weekly) I also offer once/week sessions (no practices feedback included) at my full rates: $95/45min session $120/60min session After the first month trial period, I require all clients to commit to a weekly (or twice weekly) time-slot and pay by the month. Be held accountable for your progress: daily practice video feedback gives you the opportunity to show me you're putting in the work, and get some pointers/course corrections before solidifying any bad habits. Never miss a lesson again: for online lessons, we can record important portions of each lesson for you to practice along with. If you ever need to cancel, a personalized recorded lesson will be filmed and sent to you during your allotted time slot (ensuring you stay on track, and get the most value from your coaching).
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I offer a complimentary phone consultation to discuss your goals and answer any questions you may have about my teaching style and getting started, Then we can get a first session on the books! For performances, I require a deposit in advance to hold the performance date. This deposit is transferable to another date under certain circumstances but non-refundable.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
In 2019, I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Berklee College of Music with my Bachelor's in Guitar Performance. I've been running a guitar coaching since 2014, honing my abilities to cater to the specific needs of each client, and finding unique and exciting ways to motivate, inspire, and educate. I began studying the guitar at age seven under the direction of my father, who graduated from Berklee College of Music. Since then I have had the honor of studying with many of the greatest guitarists in the Boston area, including Richie Hart, John Baboian, John Wilkins, Ken Taft, and Erik Ringstad.
