Thank you for clicking on my ad. My name is Marci and I have been in the field of elementary school education since 1984. I have taught Kindergarten- 4th grade in a self contained classroom in the public and private school environment.
My specialty is phonemic awareness, "phonics" and reading comprehension skills. Children need to be able to understand what they are reading is just not words written down, but they convey a meaning. In addition I have noticed that many children need assistance with grammar and writing skills. Knowing grammar skills is crucial to understanding content and having the ability to write clear and concise sentences and paragraphs. I also tutor elementary math.
Children do well with one on one tutoring. All the tutor's attention is applied to them and there is no competition from other children desiring the tutor's assistance.
Summer is approaching quickly. Many children have fallen behind due to the pandemic . The summer break is a great time to bring your child up to speed and ready for the next school year.
I am very patient and respond well to clients and their parents.

Marci worked with 2 of my children tutoringmath skills. My children were very behind. She was very patient and showed them that math can be fun using real life situations. In addition, I hired her to work with my children the past 2 years during the Summer months, so my children would be ready for the next grade level

I really do not know where we would be without Marci.
My daughter was quite behind her peers in Kindergarten, and it was suggested that we get her a full evaluation with an educational psychologist. We were quoted somewhere around 4 thousand dollars for that, with the suggestion that we could 'try' tutoring instead.
Well, my daughter had her reading evaluation last week at school, and her teacher said she has greatly improved and is now right with her peers! In just a few months she has gone from not being able to identify all the letters, to now reading some sight words and writing her own words!!
Marci has not only improved her skills, but also improved her confidence and love of learning. We really owe so much to Marci for everything she has done for our daughter. I cannot recommend her enough.

"My son just completed his final tutoring session with Marci. I would highly recommend Marci for any child's tutoring needs. She is very reliable and worked extremely well with my son. She and my son connected right away and had very positive tutoring sessions. Marci assessed my son's needs and tailored the sessions around them. She communicated well with both myself and my son, and gave us tips, strategies and suggestions to help him in his reading. My son has a great new sense of confidence in reading.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My pricing is $47 an hour. I will provide a discount for meeting more than once a week.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I begin by establishing rapport with the parent and ask them why they believe their child needs tutoring. Through conversation we establish short and long term attainable goal for their child.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated from CSUN in 1983 with a BA in Child Development. I have taught in the public and private sector for over 35 years. In addition, I have worked as a behavior therapist working with children on the autism spectrum. In addition, I have worked as an Independent living skills coach to adults with developmental delays.
