Introduction

My name is Parker Tozier, and I am a professional multi-instrumentalist, composer, and songwriter. When you take lessons from me, I cater to your needs and goals as a musician. Whether you want to learn rock, jazz, country, funk, metal, midwest emo, or to start writing your own songs, I can get you exactly where you want to be. My main focus as a teacher is always to get you playing your favorite songs as quickly as possible. However, if you desire a more structure/theory based approach, I can help you get to an advanced level of musicianship by breaking down the music you already love, and provide you with a more in-depth understanding of it. I aim to give you material to not only improve your technique, but also provide the tools you need to strengthen your individual voice as a musician. I have over ten years of experience recording, performing, and composing music, as well as over five years teaching experience. I studied guitar and composition at the California Institute of the Arts, and I currently teach in person lessons at Allegra Music Academy in Tarzana, CA. My rates start at $30 for half an hour, $45 for forty-five minutes, or $55 for the hour. I offer in person, as well as online classes. Message me if you have any questions! Started taking bass lessons with Parker when I was at about an intermediate level of playing but struggling to advance further and she really helped me to push past that point by giving me the resources necessary to learn theory that wasn't previously all that accessible to me as well as how to most effectively move through it and apply that knowledge practically. All in all, since taking lessons with Parker I have been playing at a substantially higher level and have significantly more control over my instrument, which has greatly increased my confidence to improvise and play in collaborative settings.

I found Parker after trying a few different guitar teachers for the past year who never felt like the right fit. I kept finding teachers who would show me where to put my hands to play the songs I liked, but never helped me understand songwriting or music theory or anything like that. Meanwhile Parker is the whole package. She's helped me learn songs really well, but she also has finally made theory understandable for me and has helped me to learn the fretboard. She's incredibly articulate, patient, and passionate about both her students and music. She's also clearly a brilliant musician herself and you can tell she really knows what she's talking about. I've finally found the teacher I've been looking for since I started playing. I highly recommend her for any skill level :)

FAQs

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
$30 for 30 minutes, $45 for 45, and $55 for the hour. If you want me to travel to you, and you live within a 40 mile radius, I'd be happy to, but there will be a calculated fee based off of the mileage. I also offer discount packages for prepaid lessons!
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
An introductory lesson is mainly about getting to know you and your musical goals! We will set up a plan, and you will walk away with practice material that I guarantee will make you a better musician.
