Introduction
MM The Juilliard School - Cello Performance BS, BM Northwestern University - Computer Science, Cello Performance Co-founder & CTO in Technology Founder & Executive Director of a nonprofit in Music I believe a high level of studying a musical instrument from a young age reliably builds the transferable skills necessary to succeed in any profession, while simultaneously building a strong connection with the arts. I place equal emphasis on my career as CTO of a technology company as I do performing and teaching music for the purpose of instilling excellence in the next generation. This view is commonly shared by top institutions of higher education seeking the very best to fill their student bodies. For many years I have taught intermediate and advanced cello students seeking competition and audition preparation to build their musical portfolios, and young beginners committed to reaching advanced levels of study quickly. Past students of mine now attend or are alumni of top-10 universities in the US, pursuing illustrious careers in STEM alongside music.

My daughter, 13, has been working with Jeff for 3 years now. When she started she just wanted to try something different besides piano. But since then she has learned so much about how to play cello and is now doing competitions, and just received a full scholarship to join a chamber music program! I am so glad she is able to work with other kids to encourage her to be even better.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I work with clients who value effectiveness and saving time by learning the right way the first time, so they can quickly develop immense skills and achieve higher goals throughout all other aspects of life.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I accept new students by audition to understand their current level and learning potential, and interview with parents to understand what realistic artistic expectations may be possible. For students: prepare a work that best represents your current level of playing. For parents: what goals do you have for your child, and realistic level of commitment are you prepared to put forth for them to reach those outcomes?

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I am the Executive Director of Young Artists Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to recognizing excellence in and cultivating the next generation of bright minds through classical music training. I received my Masters degree in cello performance from The Juilliard School, and dual bachelor's degrees from Northwestern University's School of Engineering and School of Music.
