While I rarely give poor reviews, I will start with Nacho from "TopNotch". We just needed 3 brackets put up for an awning. He responded through text immediately as he was in our area. After looking at project, he asked for $150 for mounting 3 brackets saying it was a two man job. We had the awning already assembled and were just asking for brackets to be placed. $50/hour for a handyman is a ridiculous price to begin with (what are these people thinking? They are not contractors or doctors!) We finally agreed on $50 for a project that would take no more than 30 minutes. We provided him pictures of screws and project even after he came to site to look what was to be done. He said he would pick up lag bolts as kit only came with concrete bolts. He showed up with less than needed and installed two small lag bolts and very large washers into what I thought was a stud. I asked him to check if they would hold by putting bar up that holds awning. He replied, "They will hold". I even helped hand him tools for fear he would charge us an extra $50 for another half hour. He did not test bolt security. After we put awning bar up, it held for maybe 1 hour then started falling out. See pictures and text attached. All in all, this was Bottom Notch, not Top! Sample of text he sent us attached. Could not include everything said but it's obvious he is unprofessional and does not stand by his work. This is a warning to everyone considering this person. Don't know where he got 5 star reviews! Friends, family ?

Top Notch's reply
This is a case of a customer not wanting to pay for my time. And got mad because I would not move brackets over to a new spot for free. I copied and pasted the conversation Nacho In my way I’m 3 mins away Company? Topnotch Ok. Notifying person that is home. Ring bell Yes I made contact Taking a look now This will take you 3 hours to do?? Thumbtack has you at $50/hour Two guys at 50 a hour plus special concrete drill and tool yes.. feel free to get other quotes It’s two man job We can hang it ourselves Ok $75 Shouldn’t take more than half hour. Let’s go at $50 /hour Only if you hire us to trim your palm trees when the time comes lol Or consider us atleast If you climb the palms likes the first guy that did them, sure Well yea.. how else bc are we supposed to do it We don’t use equipment Chainsaw? No machetes If needed chainsaw sometimes So when are you available to install brackets? Early next week or possibly tomorrow if I get done with another job I’m At down the street I can push for tomorrow Or Friday? I won’t be in area Friday I’ll be at a different job different area Take pictures of the screws you have so I know you have the right stuff Please text beforehand if you can make it tomorrow. We might be running errands Ok Didn’t she show you? I think they are concrete screws Wed, Jun 26 at 8:12 PM Yea but you wanted them in the studs.. you can’t use concrete boys for the studs Bolts Thu, Jun 27 at 4:24 AM Ok, I’ll send a Pic so you can pick up the right bolts/screws. We were looking at your business card and you seem handy in a lot of things. Yes there’s pretty much nothing I can’t do.. too much too list Here is the hardware for awning. More of the large one and two more brackets Ok I’ll pick up lag bolts Let me know when you’re on your way Ok will do Thu, Jun 27 at 12:54 PM On my way I’m here Hey Nacho. The brackets are coming put. Please come fix. Kim in Atwater I’m out of town I’ll be Back tues.. send me pics of what’s going on please Those bolts are in wood studs There’s about 1/2 Inch space between the stucco and studs. In some areas in caved in when I put bolts in so l reversed them back out. It’s possible your seeing that play in between bolts There was also two lag bolts that I found in my car that could of been short I can come replace with longer ones but n Tuesday Middle bracket is coming completely out. Please come as soon as you can. Hello I’m in the area yall available Yes. Someone is home Ok I’m already Back in Merced I’ll be back in area tomorrow I’ll just knock tomorrow if someone will be home Please let us know when you are on way. We work in back yard and don’t always hear door Ok Tuesday 4:36 AM Hi Nacho, Hey Tuesday 6:22 AM Since the first attempt at installing the brackets failed, please: 1. bring the proper sized lag bolts and washers (all the same size). 2. you will need to move brackets over to the right an extra 16 inches and down 1-2 inches as it impedes the flood light and conduit it is connected to. 3. Once brackets are installed, please put bar to awning back up to test if it holds as I asked you to do the first time. Khoi will be here to help if needed. I’m installing the lag bolts I have 5 jobs today sorry Don’t have that kind of time I started the holes where you had them marked There’s a point where y’all got to be considerate of my time I already came out of pocket for the lag bolts.. I don’t mention noting about it because y’all was being too cheap to even pay me for my time Only reason I honored that $50 a hour is because I haven’t updated it That’s was my fault And honestly it won’t let me change the rate on the app. Forget it! You’re an Ass!!! So you don’t wanted to come put that last two lag bolts? Just want to confirm Now I’m an ass because you want to take advantage? I did mark anything except when I tried doing it myself. One hole. Thought I was hiring an expert on this who knew what they were doing but you just rushed looking for a quick buck. Jerk! Sorry got to pay the expert prices to get expert work.. I went off your marked holes I’ll send your $50 back because obviously you need it more than I do.. I’m never in it for a quick buck.. but when people try to low ball me for my work it’s different If you apologize for the name calling I’ll go but if not no worries Sorry you feel this way Ha! That’s not a apology I said apologize for the name calling Reputation is everything. Refund our money please for unsatisfactory work. Go ahead i know your type.. I was going to get a bad review rather way.. I have screenshots and will post them as well. You trying to finesse me out of my labor and never held your end of bargain by letting us do your trees

From start to finish, Nacho aced the job. He was quick to answer for the estimate, texted as he arrived, was a pro in the assembly, and finished the job flawlessly. Top Notch is top notch!!!
