I specialize in editing books, both fiction and nonfiction and academic papers, focusing on theses and dissertations. I've been called on to assist officials in government agencies including Homeland Security, the Department of Defense, and the National Forest Service.
I assist with everything from punctuation and spelling to organization, format and readability, syntax, flow, and overall enhancement of the writing.
Several books I've edited have been picked up by publishers. I've also suggested title changes that have been welcomed by the authors.
Fiction Manuscripts: I am equipped to help with developmental editing for plot points, character development, achieving natural dialog. I offer constructive suggestions when asked.
Nonfiction Manuscripts: The message is paramount. Organization is the key. I assist in honing these areas as well as the usual spelling, punctuation, formatting and offer advice when requested.
Several authors I've assisted have had their book picked up by publishers either before or after they've placed them online.
I also assist with query letters and packages sent to agents.
Dissertations and Theses: My reviews speak for themselves. I received notice today that one person I assisted received a super high score on his Master's submission, a marketing plan for a product. I've helped countless grad students in a wide array of areas and have tremendous satisfaction in being able to assist them progress and do well in their chosen field.
My rate is hourly and depends, of course, on the amount of editing that will be needed. I charge $32 -$40/Hour. I'm often asked for estimates. It's impossible to know as it depends on the caliber of the writing. I have found that charging hourly is fairest for you as you remain in control of payments. You'll start off with a deposit for as many hours as you're comfortable with. When that time is exhausted, I invoice you showing the actual time spent and send you what I've done to date. If and when you choose to continue, you make another deposit and I continue on. You pay at whatever rate you're comfortable with; you needn't pay all at once. I am paid via Cash, Check, Venmo, Zelle and PayPal.
Thanks for reading this and I look forward to meeting you on the 'net!
