FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I will not respond to a request for tuning without an attached phone number! Unlike 'bait and switch' pricing that generally sounds great, generally DO NOT include the price of a 'pitch raise'. A piano HAS to be tuned a minimum of 2x in one visit for a stable tuning. This is why I charge a FLAT RATE for my service that includes minimum of 2 tunings in the same visit while also unsticking notes and lubing/adjusting pedal. The only time it is more if there is something physically broken or has a catastrophic problem. If your piano is untunable I do not charge for the visit.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I have a few questions that I need to ask so we are both on the same page. There are many cut-rate, bait and switch tuners out there that APPEAR to do the job for less, but once they are in your home the add-ons add up like PITCH RAISES, adjusting pedals, etc. Know the total tuning cost ahead of time!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
40 years of piano tuning! Plus, I was a Piano Performance Major at Depaul University and Composition Major at Columbia College. I KNOW what a piano should sound and feel like.
