FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Pricing is dependent on travel and travel time. I teach out of my studio in West Hollywood, CA at a fixed rate of $70. If a student would like to be taught in their home or at another location, that rate is $80 if travel time is less than 30 minutes. Any travel time longer than 30 minutes involves a rate discussion.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Typically, I will have a trial first lesson at which I assess the student's prior music experience, current music skills, music reading skills, theory education, and have a conversation to discuss what their goals in music lessons are. If after the first lesson, the student wants to continue, subsequent lessons will include technical warm-ups, repertoire work, and theory discussions (if the student needs more theory education).
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin where I took several piano pedagogy courses. I also had experience teaching large classes of piano labs, individual students, coaching musicians, directing, and theory education. I also have taken pedagogy lessons from Thornton School of Music at the University of Southern California in which I learned how to effectively teach students of all ages and music levels.
