FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
At Trek, we realize that choosing a trusted moving company for the right price might be a complicated task. Movers typically charge by the hour, apply travel fees, and some other charges for additional services. Moving experts recognize that people like knowing the cost upfront since it helps for budgeting. Per customers' request Trek Movers provides both options for all local and long-distance moves: a) Competitive all-inclusive hourly rates: Pros: pay for the actual time, easier and quicker to set up an appointment, options to minimize the time (moving cost) is to be pre-packed, to arrange better parking space for the moving truck, to reserve an elevator, etc.; it is the most popular option on the local moving market due to the unique variables of each relocation. Cons: time duration is subjective - there’s a good chance you’re either over-or underestimating how long your move will take; possible extra charges for the non-reusable packing supplies, travel fees; there is a direct correlation between time and damage if the preparation is too rushed, and the crew is panicked by the client trying to save time, the likelihood of breakages increases significantly. b) No-ambiguity flat rate based on complete details: Pros: upfront moving cost, no worry about extra fees, better protection for the items because movers aren't rushing, overall better moving experience with no surprises; there is an easy way to submit all details on your account page Cons: flat-rate moving is often priced higher than hourly moving; requires full inventory and all related moving details such as internal layout (elevator, stairs, walking distance) The advantage of the flat price is there is no ambiguity. The advantage of the hourly rate is it could be lower than the flat price (but also higher). As moving is not an exact science, it's really tricky to be absolutely certain, so we try to give the customer as many tools and options as possible. Essentially, we will move you as safely and as efficiently as possible, and we are completely open regarding which pricing framework you prefer.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
When and how to book a typical moving appointment? The sooner, the better. There is absolutely nothing to lose in a provisional reservation. Even if your move date is uncertain or in escrow, we are happy to pencil in a date, thereby removing the worry of securing your most preferred slot. You can reschedule at any time, depending on availability at that time. Some move days are much busier than others – especially weekends, mid-month, and month-end dates. These peak periods tend to become fully booked around 3-4 weeks ahead, so it’s best to plan early. Even if you eventually choose not to book with us, our free move summary provides extremely useful information to use when shopping-around with other companies.
