FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I offer a free introduction to get you started. This allows you to get a feel for my teaching as well as establish goals. Tuition is a flat monthly rate that includes four private flute lessons per month, support between lessons, competition and audition preparation, letters of reference, and audio equipment recommendations for optimizing sound quality during online lessons. In addition to private lessons, students have access to my open studio hours each week. During this time, students are able to drop by my digital studio room for help troubleshooting practice problems. Tuition is processed through Square on an automated schedule.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to talk to new students on the phone, learn a little about their experiences on the flute, what their goals are, and generally get a brief introduction to who they are. Students are assigned various exercises centered around a scale, a small solo, and a flute duet each week. Depending on the level of the student, we also work perfecting on a larger, major flute work over the course of several lessons. Students must supply their own flute. I will make instrument recommendations if necessary.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Over the course of my education, I studied with Beth McGraw, former flute player in the Des Moines Symphony, Albuquerque Symphony, Milwaukee Symphony, and Civic Orchestra of Chicago; Joe Corral, former flute player in the Phoenix Symphony, and acclaimed jazz artist; Laurel Zucker, celebrated flute virtuoso; and Diana Morgan, former piccolo player with the San Diego Symphony and current faculty at the Colburn Community School of Performing Arts.
