FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I have an introductory session for parents and students to decide whether they want to move forward with counseling. I also have discounted prices for SAT tutoring if parents would like to include that with college counseling.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
BA in psychology and secondary degree in education from Harvard University. Teaching experience at A1 College Prep, GrowthWise, Fusion Academy, and Empowerly College Prep.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I’ve always loved teaching and helping students succeed. I started tutoring when I was 15, and since then have worked with a myriad of students, from pre-school toddlers to high schoolers all the way to adults studying for the GED. In 2018, I started an education non-profit that runs free afterschool programs for homeless youth by connecting high school and college tutors to local homeless shelters. From there, I started pro-bono college counseling low income students and homeless students, guiding them through the process, prepping them for the SAT, and helping them write their essays. After gaining 2 years of experience, I got my first college counseling job in which I learned the longer term strategy behind the college process, and I have now been college counseling for more than 6 years. A combination of mentorship from incredible peers and my own experiences with different students has led me to a fully freelance career, working with high school students through the complex college process so they don’t have to tackle it on their own!
