FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I offer a 50% discount for all trial lessons!
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
It depends on the skill level and experience of the student. I usually start by asking students questions about themselves and about their experience with music/cello. I also ask what they are seeking to get out of their music lessons, and if they have any particular goals in mind for their lessons. If they are complete beginners, I introduce them to the basics of the cello: how it works, what the different parts of the instrument are called, what the role of each of our hands is, etc. I then demonstrate a bit of my own playing for them. If they have already been studying/playing cello, I ask them to play something for me (it can be anything at all!), so I can get a sense of where they're at, and I figure out what aspects of their cello playing would be best to focus our attention on first.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor of Music degree from Northwestern University and Master of Music and Graduate Certificate degrees from University of Southern California. During my time in this universities, I studied with two of the world's greatest living cello pedagogues: Hans Jorgen Jensen and Ralph Kirshbaum.
