FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
For both martial arts and reading and writing, I try to keep pricing at $60 an hour, but it may vary depending on the number of students and skill level.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
For reading and writing, the customer's prior experience and academic goals dictate the material. Once I have met with the customer and understand their goal(s), I will devise individualized curriculum accordingly. For martial arts, I gauge the customer's prior experience and physical ability. Prior experience is not particularly important, but physical ability will dictate the kinds of techniques the customer can safely receive. For example, some older students I have worked with typically refrain from receiving harder take-downs.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
For reading and writing, I have a Bachelor's degree in English from CSU East Bay and a Master's degree in English Composition from San Francisco State University. For martial arts, I earned my Nidan (second degree black belt) under my instructor, Craig Kutil. I have a total of 11 years of training in my system.
