We had another company come in and do our hardscape with the intent of them helping with our landscaping. After some months of frustration and finding some drainage issues, I went to thumbtack and found Brian. He came in with some great landscaping designs, installed a small retaining wall and fixed the drainage issues. I am more than pleased with his work and considering him for more work in our backyard.

Part of the problem with this project was me. I might not have given Brian a clear vision of what I wanted. I had done so much legwork to prepare to get rid of the muddy area behind my house (going to several places to get rock samples). But when this was over, it was not at all what I wanted. I wanted tiny, hard, pea-gravel and I got giant gray freeway rock that is ugly and hard to walk on. I should also have asked for a sample of the materials he was going to use and asked for a drawing so that I knew we were on the same page. I was surprised that no weed barrier went down , but this again was my fault for just expecting that was part of the prep. Red flags: he wanted to raise the price on the day of the project and did not respond when I tried to stop the project when I saw that it was not what I wanted. He says he fulfilled everything on the contract but we disagree on that - he immediately began dumping rock and did no preparation or leveling. I asked Brian for at least a partial refund but he feels he did the job he was hired to do. This guy is a vet and I hate saying anything negative but I would not hire him again.
