Introduction
Hi! I have been playing guitar for over 10 years and teaching music privately for two. I received my Bachelor’s of Music in Music Education from San Diego State University in 2022, emphasizing in Classical Guitar. I first started taking private lessons myself in elementary school, for piano and voice. Music has always been a part of my life and education, from taking choir to general music courses.
I can teach beginner and intermediate levels for guitar, piano, ukulele, and bass. Every lesson is tailored to the individual student’s goals and style. However, I like to make sure each student learns all the fundamentals and receives a strong foundation that can be applied to any style or genre they want to learn.This can include rhythm exercises, scales, basic music theory, and more. For example I strongly emphasize the importance of rhythm and making sure students can play in time. I have experience playing and teaching classical, pop, rock, and folk.

Summer has been teaching my 9-year-old daughter for 4 months now, and I could not be happier with the results! We’ve tried to get her into lessons with other teachers and it was never the right fit. But Summer has made learning guitar so fun and approachable for her! My daughter can tend to give up when she doesn’t get it perfect right away, and Summer is so kind, patient, and encouraging. I’ve been taking ukulele classes with Summer for just over a year. In that time, I’ve learned numerous chords and songs, as well as learning to read sheet music for the ukulele. The lessons are always enjoyable, and she adjusts the content to fit my goals. I highly recommend Summer as a very effective and patient teacher!

Summer is an amazing piano instructor! She’s been super patient, friendly and supportive with my 8 yr old! My son is always looking forward to his lessons each week and it’s so lovely to see how enthusiastic he is about music.
