FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I offer a free first lesson to new students so we can get to know each other and determine whether it’s a good fit. My rates are $55 per half hour, $70 for 45 minutes, and $80 for an hour. I believe in offering high-quality instruction, and my rates reflect my 18 years of experience and the high-quality remote experience that I take pride in providing. There are no hidden fees, and I’m always transparent about what you’ll be paying for.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to start by offering a free introductory lesson where I can learn about students’ goals, interests, and skill level. This helps me tailor my teaching approach to my students’ needs and ensures that we’re a good match. I also take time to walk new students through my technical setup and do any required troubleshooting. From there, we’ll design a lesson plan that keeps things fun and engaging while helping the students achieve their musical aspirations.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I studied piano and composition at the University of California, San Diego, where I had the privilege of learning under Grammy award-winning mentor Kamau Kenyatta. I’ve been playing for 18 years, and my experience spans classical training, jazz, rock, and funk. I’ve also composed award-winning music, including a piece that earned the Southern California Jazz Society award. My compositional work with the band Starsign led to a nomination for best jazz album at the 2024 San Diego Music Awards.
