Introduction

I am a member of MTAC (Music Teacher Association of California) and enjoy working with children and seeing them grow in knowledge, confidence and self-worth. I have taught music in schools as well as private lessons for over 30 years. My specialties are piano and flute. My goal is to have my students look forward to their lessons and leave with a smile, having learned and accomplished something new. I enjoy seeing my students progress and, while having fun, acquire love for making music.

Hafdis is both gifted as a patient teacher and talented with musicality. My middle school-aged daughter and I took flute lessons from Hafdis for many years. I switched from piano to flute lessons with Hafdís when I started playing the flute in Jr. High band. Her lessons enabled me to excel at an accelerated rate compared to my peers. I thoroughly enjoyed our lessons and found playing the flute fun and exciting. Hafdís is a talented musician, patient teacher, and inspiring person. I still remember how to play to this day even if I haven't picked up the instrument in a while. I attribute my love for music and ability to relate to my professional musician husband to her. I recommend Hafdís for anyone looking to start playing the flute, refresh on skills, or train for something bigger. She is well worth it!

How did you get started doing this type of work?
When I was a child and witnessed a silver flute being played for the first time I was mesmerized by the beauty and tone of the flute. I received my first flute when I was 12 and eventually chose music as my field of study and career.
