- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I really just want to get to know you and get to know what your needs are. If you are a potential student, I highly encourage taking advantage of my half-price first introductory lesson so that you can feel out whether or not you think we'd be a good match. I believe that it is very important that a teacher and her student feel comfortable and safe, and free to express themselves naturally. What is your and/or your child's history with music? And is there any history with other instruments? What are your goals with the cello? What about it interests you? Once you have had your introductory lesson, we will talk about scheduling, preferred lesson length, payment plans, etc. I can teach out of my private studio or can travel to students. I have a contract and also a lesson responsibilities from that will need to be signed. I schedule lessons a month in advance and collect payment on a per-month or per-semester schedule. For weddings and private events, submit as many details about the event as possible and about the event VIPs. For example, will the event be outside? Will there be cover for the musicians? Would you like us to play acoustic or plug in? We will go over what genre or style of music you would like, and I will prepare a list of songs that I or yourself curate.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have bachelor and master degrees in cello performance from Oberlin College Conservatory and the Cleveland Institute of Music respectively, where I took numerous music pedagogy courses. I have over 15 years experience teaching privately, as well as over 20 years experience performing for live events and concerts, and recording for major motion picture studios.
