Introduction

I have 40 years of experience in many areas of arts and crafts. my sewing expertise encompasses items from quilts, children's clothing, racing silks for jockeys, computer-adapted clothing, and costuming. I also offer design services. I have clients are all over the country. I currently make and design quilts for people all over the country from clothing quilts, photo quilts, and traditional patchwork. I do not do finish quilting on other peoples tops. My art experience encompasses murals, sculpture, book illustrations, logos, and t-shirt art. I am the go to person for one unique projects which combine a variety of skills. Thumbtack has enabled me to work with customers all over the country. I am in California, but most of my jobs from Thumbtack have come from out of state clients who want quality in workmanship and design.

My mom passed away recently and my grand daughter had the idea of making a quilt with her great grandma's clothes. Since we did not know how to make it, I looked for an artist on Thumbtack and got connected to JoAn. She turned out to be amazing for us. Very responsive and answered all my questions (of which I had many). In comparing her pricing with others I found her very competitive but I think the most important factor was that I felt comfortable in her answers and felt she was ready to work with me in getting the look I wanted. She shared pics of her previous work and then let me pick the look. She bought backing material for me and also added some of her own fabric to get that colorful quilt look (I did not have enough colors, I had underestimated how much is really needed). She also sent me a mockup of the quilt block. The package came today and the quilt looks even more beautiful than I had thought. I truly love the way she arranged the various fabrics and added her own to bring out the vibrant colors. I would highly recommend JoAn for your next quilting project.

I have had an incredible experience working with JoAn. She made a quilt from my late grandfather’s flannels which I gave my father for his 60th birthday. It was a very emotional project for my family and JoAn was incredibly thoughtful and responsive throughout the project. I knew nothing about JoAn except for her raving reviews. I don't believe I could have made a better choice. She is delightful to speak with, responds immediately to your emails, and as you can see in the photo, does an outstanding job quilting. The item Joan made for me was actually part of a costume! The piece looked like a quilt to me. So I figured I try to find someone that makes quilts. And I’m happy I did because it came out perfect! I sent her a picture of the character in beginning. When she started working on the project, she checked in with me about the measurements because it seemed small based on what his outfit looked like, which I appreciated so much. It was a joy communicating with her and I’m happy she decided to take on my project.
