I made a mistake by booking “free first session” with this person. All his “tutoring” included was to put children on free internet platform Khan Academy and watch as they doing free exercises there. That teaching is not worth the money, however this was not the worst part about it… for two weeks after that season was over, I have been subjected to extortion demands and threats by that “tutor” Dan. He threatened three times now to come back by my house to “make it right and collect what is owed to him”, despite the fact we had agreement that first session was “free trail” (like most tutors do) and I owe him nothing. I told him many time we are not interested in his tutoring, however he persists that wants come back, talk to me and persuade us to change the mind. I asked him multiple times not to come back however every day I get the message with threats of “talk to me in details or I will come by your house”. On my end this feels too push, inappropriate and aggressive. I let this person into our house and now we are concerned about the safety of our family. I am considering filing the police report. Please be aware!!

Dan's Tutoring's reply
Please ignore this review, it's a total Karen and let me explain why (besides refusing to pay despite having agreed to pay for travel time and me working with BOTH of her kids for 90 minutes). Firstly, I was contacted by this person and after setting up a time, I actually told her it didn't seem like a good fit because I could tell she wanted to pay as little as possible for tutoring. She insisted I come out - so I did. I've been a professional educator for 10 years, taught at public high schools and colleges, at a medical university...so I know what I'm doing. I asked her for ANY assignments that I could look at so I knew what grade level these kids were performing at. She could not produce a single assignment - she simply told me that the kids were not good writers and that they were struggling in school. So I spent 45 minutes having them write and do math problems. Once I understood that they were significantly behind in grade level, I gave them a couple assignments so that I could see their work and begin to correct their weaknesses. In the meantime, I wrote a detailed plan of what they should work on before I saw them next, including organizational changes. The mom seemed really happy with all the work and said she'd have me back soon. Then we sent her the full bill for our services and suddenly there was no response. We then asked her if she wanted to continue working with us and she ignored our messages. Finally we asked her if she was going to use our guarantee for our first hour session and sent her the bill to cover the travel time and overage. She refused to make payment or communicate with us despite multiple attempts. I've personally never had this happen in the 10+ years I've been tutoring. This is like if I told a radiologist that I don't think I need surgery when her professional opinion is that I do. It's clear that she is used to doing business this way and not paying bills that she has agreed to pay.

Our son needed some help filling in gaps in his calculus understanding before midterms. I looked around at a few possible options and he quickly connected with Daniel at 99tutor.com and we saw his comprehension and confidence level skyrocket in just a short time. His midterm went great and it would not have been possible without Daniel's help and guidance. Would definitely seek their professional and effective assistance in the future and recommend anyone considering using 99tutor.com do the same! :)

I took the GRE today and got a 163 on the math (87th percentle) and 165 on the verbal (95th percentile), which is higher than what I need for any of the programs I’m looking at. Thanks so much for all your help! I couldn’t have done it without you!
