Introduction
Hello! My name is Chandler R. I completed my undergraduate at MIT as a physics major, then moved to California to continue my studies. I received a PhD in physics from UCLA, where I spent 8 quarters as a teaching assistant (TA) in the physics department. As a TA, I led discussion sessions, held office hours, and held test review sessions. After school, I worked as a Space Lasers Engineer at SpaceX. Now I’m back working in one of my true passions, teaching! Despite my technical background, I excel at communicating difficult topics to students of all skill levels in a way they can understand. Other than working with students on class material, I like to focus on executive functioning skills like test-taking, study techniques, and organization to help students exceed in all subjects. I love working with kids of all ages, skill levels, and abilities! Math background: In high school, I completed Calculus AB with a 5 on the AP test. I excelled on the SAT math section as well as completed the SAT math subject tests. In college, I took single and multi-variable calculus, as well as more advanced math classes. I personally love math, and want my students to feel the joy of understanding the fundamentals of a subject and using that to solve more advanced problems. I find it fun to work both with students who need help solidifying their fundamentals as well as students who want an extra challenge. Physics background: I perceive physics as an excellent way to hone logical thinking and problem solving skills. Understanding how to take key concepts and apply them to a variety of problems is a lifelong skill that will help no matter what the students' interests are. I also love sharing my passion for learning how the world around us works! I have experience tutoring introductory physics courses by holding office hours as a teaching assistant at UCLA and tutoring UCLA college students. I'd be happy to answer any follow-up questions about my experience and can't wait to meet you!

Chandler was truly the best math tutor that I’ve ever had. She helped me in Honors Algebra 2 and Honors Math Analysis and was extremely well-versed in both, explaining concepts in simple terms and making sure that I was able to complete problems before moving on. We moved at a pace that worked for me, and she was always extremely encouraging and reassuring even when we had to transfer to virtual tutoring. Thank you Chandler!!

Chandler met my expectations and then exceeded them by 100%. All I can say is WOW. My daughter and I chose Chandler based on her excellent credentials, and we were attracted to her story and the way that she explained her philosophy. Cut to the chase: In three weeks' time, Chandler helped my daughter raise her D- grade in AP Calculus to a solid B! Plus she helped her fully prepare for the AP Calculus test. All in one month's timeframe. What my daughter says: First of all, after studying with Chandler, I now find calculus enjoyable. I went from hating it to really liking it! Her love of the subject transferred to me and I look forward to taking physics and more calculus. - Chandler explained things in a clear way and when she could tell that I didn't understand, would explain it differently until she found a way that I got it. - Chandler knew all of the concepts - unlike other tutors that I've had, there was no looking up how to do a problem or re-learning it. Chandler already knew the material. She was well-versed in calculus and knew everything. - Chandler is really friendly. We bonded over so many things and Chandler made a genuine effort to make a true connection. - Chandler helped me feel very prepared for the AP test. I felt very confident going into it. - Chandler wasn't a helicopter telling me how to do every step of a problem. She would let me do it and we'd go over where I got stuck. If I got stuck on the way, she'd help me go in the right direction, and I'd do the rest. In other words, I actually learned calculus! - Chandler was always able to work with my schedule and cared more about giving me the amount of tutoring that I needed instead of going overboard just for business. - Chandler helped me feel more comfortable communicating with my high school teacher, while at the same time helping me understand what I was working on in class. - I recommend Chandler!
