FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I discuss pricing after consulting with the customer. Generally I charge 20-25/sq foot which includes prep, paint, labor, sealing and clean up. Prices may vary depending on the number of revisions, amount of detail, surface preparation, and finishes such as UV coating or graffiti coat required to complete the project. (More details, preps, coats etc = more $.) Once we discuss your ideas and I see the location of the mural, all the variables can be sorted out. Prices for decor art, like hand-painted furnishings, are determined on a per-item basis.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We can initiate the project with an email or phone exchange to discuss your goals and vision for the project. The first things I would need to know are: Is the mural be for a company or a residence? Is the location indoors or outdoors? If outdoors, which direction does the wall face? (N,S,E,W?) (full sun or no sun) What is the wall material/texture? (brick, cinder block, stucco, wood etc.) Will you require a finish coat (graffiti coat or UV sealer?) Can you send me photos and measurements of the proposed wall? Do you have a theme or specific elements you want to include? Is there a date the mural needs to be finished?
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a fine art degree and 20 years of experience as a professional gallery artist, muralist, and designer of props and art for films. I have certification to teach art in schools, and, as a film craftsman, I earned membership in IATSE local 44, NABET, SDSA, and the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. I am currently a member of the Malibu Artists Association, 11:11Projects, and the Arroyo Arts Collective.
