Finding a genuine dogtrainer who cares about the overall wellbeing of your dog and isn’t just looking to steal your money is very difficult. When I found Amaya I knew I could trust her with my dog. I worked with Amaya to help my reactive dog with moving back into my parents home. My dog has a rough history with my family’s dogs. I had moved back to the bay from nyc where I worked with another trainer who helped Kai with overall obedience training. I knew I needed more help with figuring out a way to have the dogs coexist. We worked with Amaya for 6 or 7 sessions and Kai completely transformed into an even better dog. Even after the sessions, Amaya was always available to answer questions I had. During the sessions, she worked with both Kai and I on various commands and skills. She offered in home sessions as well as private sessions at the park. We did one in home session to have the two dogs see each other and I was almost brought to tears after seeing Kai slowly getting more comfortable around our other dog. Something I thought would never be possible. She helped Kai become more confident and we both trusted her. It’s been a couple months since the last session and I still keep in contact with her to show Kai’s progress. Amaya is truly a great trainer who cares about you and your dog.

With the help from Nature & Nuture K9’s trainer Amaya, my pup Maisie went from anxious and reactive to obedient and excited to work. Her transformation began when I was no longer able to take her out even in my own complex without a reactive response. Since working with Amaya Maisie genuinely knows right from wrong. She is able to be out and about with me and trusts herself in and out of my home. Maisie is always in good hands with Nature & Nuture K9 training, and both me and my dog suggest working with Amaya if you want a better relationship with your dog.

When my partner and I decided to adopt a german shepherd and pit bull 12 week old puppy, we quickly realized that we were not equipped to raise this type of high drive dog who had many resource guarding tendencies. Toasty is a strong willed dog. As terrible as it sounds, we were close to rehoming her. We found Amaya when she was a trainer at another company, and when she decided to break off on her own, we had to follow her. We really believe in her style of balanced training. Amaya understands the mindset of dogs and knows when to push and give with her training. Not only does she excel in trainingdogs but she educates and encourages owners. She understands the struggle of new owners, validates our struggle, but gave us tools to be successful owners. Besides trusting her 100% with our dog, she is personable and talking with her feels like talking to a friend. Amaya is willing to be flexible and always makes herself available whenever we need help.

We did a 3 week board & train with Amaya a little over a year ago with our border collie Jessie and continued doing private training here and there for upkeep. After the board & train Jessie was pretty much off leash reliable and we were able to take him hiking and camping with a lot more confidence than we had before.
Throughout this last year of private training we have fine tuned a lot of the commands and e collar work. We are super happy with his progress!

My experience at Nature & Nurture was exceptional. Their experience, communication and training aided not only my reactive dog but me as an animal owner. I learned how to better communicate with my animal and understand their needs while my dog received the guidance he needed to progress. My trainer Amaya was excellent and my overall experience at Nature & Nurture was amazing. I highly recommend this business!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Base pricing is $115/1 hour private session. Pricing may increase or even decrease depending the behavior of your dog and level of training you are at.
I am happy to travel to you for a travel fee!
I also provide discounts if you purchase a package!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Fun fact: I’m less than a year away from obtaining my B.S. in animal behavior! Not having a degree doesn’t make someone any less of a trainer, but I’m passionate about the science behind training- so obtaining my degree is one way to emphasize that.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I began my dog training journey after fostering and training a bully mix named Eclipse. She sparked my passion for obedience training and behavior modification. Ever since, I’ve helped a plethora of dogs and their owners from all different backgrounds.
