FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Pricing depends on the total word count of the manuscript, thesis, or dissertation. The basic proofreading price structure is: 10,000 words or less is five cents per word (word count x .05 cents) Over 10,000 words is three cents per word (word count x .03 cents) All developmental editing is calculated at $35 per 600 words. This includes some iterations, all phone calls, and emails if requested. No extra charge for conversing via text, email, or by phone. Most good ideas start and end with a chat :-) I have a separate fee structure for those who require only formatting. Other services and combinations of services are also offered at a separate price. Just ask, I can probably accommodate your editing needs.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I begin by either talking to a new client or exchanging emails so I know exactly what the client is hoping to get out of my services. I then ask them to email to me their manuscripts for editing. Through frequent and regular contact, I keep the client updated of changes and suggestions throughout the process.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a MA in Philosophy from the University of Colorado at Boulder, and a MA in Political Science from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. I taught (and still continue to teach) at colleges and universities for over 10 years. I have been a mentor to both students as well as junior faculty helping them hone and publish their research projects as well as offering them academic support and assistance.
