FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
If you're in San Mateo county, my rates are $20 flat + $55/h You hire me for San Mateo county job, example: You hire me for 1 hour job. You pay $20+$55= $75. You hire me for 2 hour job. You pay $20+$110(55*2) = $130 You hire me for 4 hour job. You pay $20+$220(55*4) = $240 Outside of San Mateo country instead of $20 flat fee I charge $2/mile for travel. This is to pay for miles and to offset loses for extra travel, thank you for understanding! Example: Job in Pleasanton 40 miles away. If you hire me for 2 hours: $80 + $110 (55*2) = $190 If you hire me for 4 hours: $80 + $220 (55*4) = $300 If you hire me for 8 hours: $80 + $440 (55*8) = $520 I offer piece of mind competitive estimates for selected large projects such as gazebos, pergolas, playsets and more - ask me for details
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
If I can easily estimate job, I will estimate it for the ease of mind for both of us, otherwise it's my normal hourly rate. I do try to make the process less stressful for both of us. For example when I have to go shopping in home depot I charge half my rate for time doing it or even less if I feel like I spend longer than required for this job specifically. This allows me to choose carefully what is needed for the job without rushing and it also keeps you from worrying about excessive labor spending. If I make a mistake I will never charge a dime for fixing it. Honest work is always more rewarding and gets me better reviews boosting my reputation, which is boosting my income at the end. Honest work is a win-win for both of us. I know from experience good chunk of contractors feel the same way and those who don't, tend to not stick around for long due to poor reviews and wrong goalposts.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have many years of experience working as a handyman, training comes from theory (online, youtube, etc) and practice (jobs on site). Youtube really helps a lot. I once did a high quality roof leak repair after researching specific roof type on roofer youtube channel + some googling for specifics. I currently in process of acquiring General Contractor license and upon getting it will be able to accept bigger scope projects.
