Before I launch into my philosophy as an artist and teacher, I would like potential students to know that during the pandemic, I will only teach remotely.
For me, all art making starts with sketching and drawing, regardless of the media you work in.
I am a warm, patient and inspiring teacher. Teaching brings great, great joy!
I have a lot to share with you having been an artist all of my life and a master studio art teacher in public schools and colleges. I also teach studio art to adults at different community centers and train teachers in best practices of art teaching. I received my MFA in 1997 in both Fine Art and Graphic Design. In fact, my link is to my design website.
As both an artist and teacher I specialize in drawing, painting (all BUT oil) , mixed media and printmaking; however, my teaching repertoire is not limited to those media. I also love teaching bookmaking, illustration and sculpture.
I value art from all periods and cultures and enjoy exposing students to great artists.
Art making, like most endeavors, is an amazing, emotionally-rich process about self-discovery and self-expression, not only developing craft.
It is wonderful to watch students develop their own style.
I promise time spent with me will be laden with meaning and value - you will learn a great deal, develop greatly as an artist and enjoy the process.
