It's a business nightmare. I had a trusted employee whom I suspected of stealing large sums of money over an extended period of time. I didn't know what to do, but I did know who to call. I contacted Stephen Krollpfeiffer and explained the situation. He knew that if I confronted the employee I could be opening a legal can of worms. He instructed me to go about my business as if all was fine. He began his investigation and had soon documented proof of the theft. He even handled the termination. I appreciate that Stephen was very sensitive to my company's needs, and other than a few key individuals, no-one knew anything had happened. I was able to continue to focus on business and, thanks to Krollpfeiffer and Co, we never missed a beat. Now Krollpfeiffer and Co performs background checks on all new hires, so I'll never find myself in the same situation again. If you own a business, you can't afford not to have this same protection.

I am a lawyer in Australia and I needed some investigative work undertaken in the USA. I really didn't have a clue how to proceed and I knew that if I approached a local Aussie firm for help in finding a US firm I would have to go to the big corporate guys here who would contact similar and the fees would skyrocket. Luckily I had a personal recommendation to Krollpfeiffer. I am SO impressed with the work they have carried out for me; their professional approach, keeping me informed at every stage, I feel like I mattered and was not just another client. I feel safe in their hands, knowing that whatever they turn up will be as much information is possible to find. Their fees are very reasonable too. And I would recommend them to anybody seeking a P. I was faced with a very sensitive situation involving an employee from my firm - I didn't have a clue on how to handle the situation properly in order to avoid a potentially dangerous situation. Too bad I could not give this business a zero. I hired this firm for a business matter, and so far, it has proven to be a costly mistake. After securing a non refundable retainer in the amount of $1500 - which they pushed extremely hard to have it wired ASAP-, the PI has gone MIA: no invoices, no transcripts -which were promised almost a month ago and still have not been delivered, no feedback either by phone or mail. All my requests for billing - which I have done by phone and email multiple times have not been answered. The only comment that I got from Stephen is that I was going to be charged 6 h + expenses for an interview that lasted a little bit over an hour. My overall impression is a total lack of transparency in their billing and charges and I wish I had never hired them in the first place.

Our firm initiates a Client Retainer Agreement. It clearly spells out what our client is billed and how much. This client and their operation hired us to help in refuting allegations of abuse. The client decided that, two weeks into our agreement, they would rather hire their attorney and another cheaper investigator in Mexico. We do not refund money based on these facts. Client did not cooperate in assisting us to conduct the work we said we would do. Instead they spent time trying to find ways to get around our agreement. It is important for all clients to know that once we enter into an agreement, we will do the work, but expect too that the client will uphold their end of the terms. In this case, the very next day the client entered into agreement, we sent a bilingual investigator to assist them in their matter. Client was aware of travel charges, and our hourly rate. Our Client Retainer Agreement does provide for the Client to receive the remainder of their retainer in our time during the course of a year, should we not exhaust the entire retainer amount. In this case, this Client may still use us for the unused portion of her and her companies retainer as of writing. We do not refund the retainer due to client later wanting a cheaper option. We gave a fair assessment of time on this matter on Client behalf. We NEVER had the client wire us money. They wanted us to start the next day, and we accept PayPal for credit card payments, however, their card kept declining. We gave the client the option of making a direct deposit into our business account. This was all because the Client wanted the case began immediately and we generally do not work on a project without a retainer.

I utilised the services of Krollpfeiffer & Co recently to assist me with a difficult spousal matter including personal harrasment and media defamation. They were able to resolve many of the issues within a matter of hours, and finalise my requests within days. You can't put a value on peace of mind and anxiety resolution, but they were able to work to a very reasonable budget, act promptly, and I'm extremely pleased with the result of their services.

We will match, then beat any "like" agency by 10% of their published professional fees (see terms and conditions below). No one with our experience or expertise comes close. Our objective is to keep working in a changed economic climate. We feel that our professional fee structure works for us and we hope you too will see that it will work well for you. Terms and Conditions to 110% Low Price Guarantee: "Like" agency means that the agency whose price we beat must be a verifiable licensed California private investigator. Their prices must be published on their Website or in other marketing material for us to meet or beat their prices. They must have been in business in California for 5 or more years. They must not have any negative sanctions against their current license status. They must carry a liability policy for us to meet their price. This means if they don't publish that they carry professional liability insurance, then we probably won't beat their price, but we may at our option meet it. We only beat or meet prices in cases we decide to accept. We do not accept all private investigation cases into our agency.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Watch out for the wannabe! There are many private investigators popping up everywhere. Most are new in the business and have good intentions but provide poor results. Look for a private investigator who will meet you in their office or at a location comfortable to you. Ask to see their California State license. Go to www.bsis.ca.gov and verify their license. Ask them to provide you with a willing reference (not always possible). Ask your private investigator what they bill for. Many will nickel and dime you and you may get hit with unknown fees.
