Greetings! My name is Zaja (zah•jah), I am a chef of 8 years. My experience ranges from working in high scale restaurants to working for families and individuals. I also have 4 years experience with cooking for large-scale social justice movements.
As an herbalist & a cook, I believe food is medicine! I am most interested in cooking with foraged & local foods and providing meals that taste as good as they make you feel. I have skill sets in Asian, American-Traditional, Middle Eastern, Southern, Latin cuisines, as well as others. I have spent my early 20’s traveling and spending time with many amazing chefs from different cultural backgrounds.
I am looking to work in small catering events & parties. I could also work in a more private setting, presenting you with freshly cooked meals or stocking your fridge with ready-to eat dishes. I am passionate about providing creative and delicious meals. I am willing & able to work with those living with restricted diets. I have experience cooking for folks who are vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, low-FODMAP & those who follow a religious diet.
Although my hourly rates start at $50, and include custom menu planning, grocery shopping, in-home cooking, and cleanup. I often offer a sliding scale base, as I aspire for everyone to have access to food that makes them feel good and am willing to work with folks from different financial backgrounds.
