Let me start with the good: the owner was quick and responsive when I contacted him; the quote was also fair and quick. When the time had to be changed (on their end), I was contacted quickly and was even given an extra guy for loading the truck for the price of two to make up for the change in plans.
When the three guys arrived, they seemed to be up to the task. I had hired them, initially, to move a piano and then changed it to load my U-Haul 26 foot truck. I had made it clear that I had a 3 bedroom home and a 26 foot truck. The booking was for 3 hours - it took them 5. I had 48 furniture pads - they used four of them. They also were not able to get all my stuff into the truck. This is not because I got the wrong sized truck - I had been evaluated by two moving companies and had measured EVERYTHING (including boxes) and input that information into a calculator online and it was a 26-foot truck each time.
Upon arriving at my new location, I found out WHY there was not room in the truck to put in all of my furniture. Bad packing. They used precisely one of my 15 ratchet straps and none of the 8 tie down ropes, instead stacking my boxes at the front end of the truck and then shoving in the furniture without any planning. It is a good thing I had wrapped my own furniture with furniture wrap or the damage to my furniture would have been far worse than it was.
As for the piano. I hired PIANOMOVERS. They did not show up with the equipment to MOVE an upright piano (which is what I informed them I had). Instead, they used MY furniture dolly (not the right size for my piano) and they banged it down the steps (they knew I had five porch steps) damaging the bottom edges of my piano.
When I spoke with the owner, he did listen and asked for photos which I sent. Later I received a call from the foreman of the team who claims he had been fired by them. He was not clear if this was before or after my job, but he also stated in the call that he had been called to do this job 'for some fast cash' after he was no longer working for them.
I had been told, by text, that I was getting their best. If this was their best, I would hate to see their worst.
Maybe, for small jobs, this is a good company. For a real move in a 26 foot truck, this was a bad company.
