Weinstein Brothers Piano Manufacturing Co. is a name that resonated throughout the Philippines for decades. Founded by our father, Philip Weinstein, right after World War II, the company became synonymous with quality craftsmanship and musical heritage. If you speak with elderly first generation Filipino immigrants here in the US, chances are they'll recognize the Weinstein name with a touch of nostalgia.
At its peak in the late 1990's, Weinstein Brothers was a thriving enterprise. Our production line hummed with activity, producing an impressive six pianos a day. We established a robust distribution network, partnering with over 100 dealerships across the Philippines. Our reach extended beyond the archipelago, with branch offices strategically located in Hong Kong and Singapore, enabling us to cater to a wider market.
The Weinstein Brothers legacy is one of dedication, expertise, and a deep love for music. While the company itself is no longer in operation, the story doesn't end there. The 90,000 Weinstein pianos scattered across the Philippines serve as a constant reminder of our family's contribution to the nation's musical heritage. The knowledge and skills I've acquired over the years position me to potentially write a new chapter in this story.
I, Richard Weinstein, am the second son of Philip Weinstein involved and deeply entrenched in the family business. My journey in piano manufacturing began at a young age, at 14. I embarked on a 21-year odyssey of learning, starting with the meticulous selection and grading and classification of lumber, a crucial step in ensuring the quality of each instrument. I subsequently graduated to Quality Control, Production methods improvements and modernization in our factory. My dedication propelled me through the ranks, culminating in the role of Manufacturing Director at the young age of 25. Throughout my time at Weinstein Brothers, I had the privilege of learning from seasoned veterans in the piano industry, not just in our own factory but also abroad. My experiences in Japan, the United States, Canada, and Germany provided invaluable insights into the global piano-making landscape. These diverse perspectives broadened my understanding of the craft and its intricacies. My passion for pianos extends beyond manufacturing. I possess extensive knowledge in piano refurbishing, a skill that allows me to breathe new life into these cherished instruments. Witnessing a well-worn piano regain its voice and grace is a deeply rewarding experience.
