This Spring I participated in ann oratory contest with 8 participants. Due to the help of Ms. Gadson I ended up placing first. While I drafted my speech on my own, Ms. Gadson is the reason it was brought to life. My usage of vocal projection helped push my emphasis on topics, and Ms. Gadson was the reason I knew how to use it to my advantage. She also taught me the importance of using pauses at key points to my advantage to engage the audience. Most importantly, she helped alter and refine the ending of my speech to have it hit home to the audience the way it needed to give me the first-place title. Without Ms. Gadson’s help, my speech would not have the life or impact that it did.
