I am so glad I hired Smart Tech and Robert to do my Ethernet installation. I have an older home (> 25 yrs) with only a single cable internet line coming into the house with splitters in the walls. I want to switch to fiber, I wanted some Ethernet drops in my office and near my tv and I wanted to ensure the fiber company would drop their box where I wanted it and not just where they willing to drop due to how much time it would take. When I initially spoke with Robert he asked me how soon I wanted this done. My response was, I wanted it as soon as he was available and he said, “How about tomorrow?” Wonderful! Unbelievable! He showed up as scheduled and I walked him through my plans, what I wanted to do and the current issues I was having with my cable internet. He took the first hour to go through my house, my attic, he looked at the connections outside, what’s in my garage attic and came up with a plan. He had all the equipment and supplies with him and once we reviewed the plan got started right away. Not only did he run all the Ethernet everywhere I asked without cutting a single hole in any wall or ceiling, he fixed my cable internet and ran fiber so I would, have no issues with the fiber install. He discovered that the first splitter in the cable line was likely the original one installed >25 years ago and was cracked. How it was working at all was a mystery. He replaced that. And all the unused lines in my house were likely contributing to the poor signal and interference. He removed those but made it easy enough to add back if I need them later. And the remaining old cable lines he replaced with new cables. As for the fiber he also pulled a fiber line from outside the house where the installer will want to bring it in and ran it to the spot where I am installing a small network box in my office closet. No worries now at all about not getting the fiber where I wanted it! Robert worked for almost 8 hours straight; no break, no lunch, just straight through. He moved furniture when he started and moved it all back. He vacuumed around all the existing wall plates he worked on. He bundled and secured all the lines where my network box will be. And when he was done he went over every connection with me; Ethernet, cable and fiber. He gave me recommendations for how to set up the office with my router, recommendations for future cameras, what I need right now in terms of switching and kept me from spending more money on Ama$0n than I needed to. I was so pumped at the end of the day, I got several of his business cards and am handing them out to co workers and my contractor. I will be calling him back about some camera installs. Highly recommend!
