Introduction

Hi there! My name is Emily. View my website at emdeanphotography.com! I'm a portrait photographer based out of San Diego, California. I love the beach and do many of my photoshoots there. I work with individuals, couples and families. I love photographing small backyard weddings & parties, engagements and elopements. I love photographing love in all its forms. My speciality is documentary-style photography, as I studied photojournalism in college, which means I’m less focused on perfectly posing you and more focused on guiding your movements to capture in-between moments that others might miss. During events I lean heavily into a candid style of photography, but I’m always sure to get the posed shots you want as well. Because outdoor portrait sessions are a specialty of mine, I love working in natural light. I pride myself in making people feel comfortable and confident in front of me and my camera, because I believe that each person holds an indescribable amount of beauty and light that deserves to be captured, preserved and remembered.. we're all the most beautiful when we're just being ourselves. Think of me for elopements, small weddings, engagement photos, graduation pictures,maternity photos, family photos, self love sessions, or ANY scenario when you're looking for artistic, timeless photos! Emily is a terrific photographer. She is more than willing to listen to your needs and is so enthusiastic about giving her clients the best experience possible. She is also very quick to edit and return the photos- no more than a week! The photos are high in quality and she takes great care in taking a variety so that you have plenty of different ones to choose from!

Emily does such an amazing job creating an energetic and comfortable atmosphere. She knows how to give direction without making the shoot feel stiff and the organic nature of her creativity always shines through in her work. She keeps constant updates with her editing process to assure she can get you your images in a timely and perfect manor. I can’t rave enough about how amazing the pictures turned out but more so how interactive and collaborative The whole shoot was I felt heard and respected and always ready to push each shots boundaries just a little more and more. Emily is amazing if you need a true maven of photography you’ve found her.

FAQs

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My rates vary depending on the number of people being photographed, the length of the shoot, the location of the shoot, the props for the shoot, the number of outfits being photographed, etc. Before I quote you a price, I will need to ask you some questions so I have a clear outline of what is expected from me.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
When a new customer reaches out, the first thing I'll do is ask a set of questions to better determine their needs. From there, I will quote the customer a price based on those needs. If the customer agrees to the price, we will find a date for the shoot that works best for the both of us. At this point, the customer will be expected to pay a nonrefundable deposit that will be deducted from the price of their shoot in order to hold their spot.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a degree from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism where I trained in photo-journalism and received extensive photography training.
