FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Every day is continuing education if one chooses--simply by looking for things that are unfinished or underdeveloped and seeing what can be done about that! Is it communication that can be improved, a design, a process? Or maybe a product? One thing I'm learning is that *something* can always be done and to never give up.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I could see quite clearly that product claims are oftentimes empty as the housekeeper at an old shared house had been using for years products such as Calcium-Lime-Rust removers meant to remove hard water spots from the shower stall and toilet, but they just weren't working (at all). Perhaps in some parts of the country they do, but in ours, no. It was a hunch I had, or just a curiosity maybe, that there was a real solution to be had. And so I began my search. Lucky for me that the time and money paid off -- for one, in seeing a dull, stained and smelly toilet become almost like new(!) and, for two, the excitement over "working magic" helped me to create my business.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
They come in a few main varieties: 1) "Catch-up" infrequent cleanings (in preparation for guests, a new owner, or just to clean more deeply than a home owner typically does himself/herself) that cover the majority of a house and tend to fill about a day, sometimes more than one day. The frequency for these customers ranges from once a year to a few times a year. 2) It makes sense for many who are wanting a once-to-twice-a-month cleaning schedule that the first cleaning is a deeper whole-house event with the upcoming maintenance cleanings to rotate out some tasks or areas of the house. 3) Regular/Maintenance cleanings cover the more important parts of a house (you decide which those are). Most people want 4-5 hours (though some houses can take longer than that) twice a month, but some prefer a slightly longer cleaning once per month. In a few cases (low dust, low dirt, or a smaller space with fewer belongings to clean), 4-5 hours once per month is sufficient.
