I’m so glad I found Leith. We discussed what I was looking for and scheduled just a couple hours after reaching out. I can read music and know theory from other instruments but I’m pretty new to the piano, and Leith was able to quickly identify an appropriate starting point and path forward. His approach in my case is to provide direction and feedback to guide my progress, and he makes every minute of each lesson count. His instruction on ways to improve my playing on each passage from the book or practice piece is spot on and often not something I pick up on myself. I’m a month into lesson with Leith and happy with my progress.

Details: 26 - 44 years old • Yes, the student can read music • No formal training; some self-taught experience • What the teacher recommends • Yes, the student has a piano • 30 minutes • At the pro’s location

My son took piano lessons with Leith Walden for 3 years, starting at age 6. Mr. Walden was an excellent teacher. He was very patient and able to work at my sons pace. He was the perfect choice for my son with autism because of his background in special education and music. I’ve often said that finding a piano teacher like Mr. Walden was like finding a needle in a haystack. My son not only learned to read music and play beginning piano, but also had the opportunity to connect and communicate through music. I cannot recommend Mr. Walden enough. He is an amazing teacher.

Leith’s piano lessons have been very helpful. As a beginner I find he helps build me up to understand the basics and expands on them with fun and productive lessons. I would recommend for any level player!

Mr. Walden is a wonderful piano teacher! He has been teaching my daughter for a year now and his knowledge of music combined with his patience and thoroughness has helped her continue to strengthen her piano skills. He really encourages a growth-mindset toward learning to play.

Leith Walden is one of the best piano teachers I have had the pleasure to learn from. He has tons of experience teaching kids piano (his son is an accomplished musician who is only 13!) and he can also teach an older guy like me how to play the piano. You won’t regret taking Piano with Mr. Walden!

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Lesson rates are: $30 for 30 minutes. $50 for 45 minutes.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

Lessons done at my home studio. I do not travel for lessons as I've found too often that most homes are not set up in a way to allow students the ability to fully focus on the lesson. I have optimized my studio to allow students the ability to focus solely on the lesson and get the most out of our time together.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

-30+ years piano study and performance -15 years teaching experience (teaching elementary through high school in the public school system and giving private piano lessons) -Masters degree in education from ASU -Current Arizona teaching certificate (Elementary K-8 and SPED K-12) -Current Fingerprint Clearance Card I have worked as: a professional organist and accompanist, a touring musician, a working musician in cover bands and other music related jobs/gigs.
