Thumbtack should vet these individuals as they represent your brand. My experience with this contractor was poor to say the least. Although the job got done, there was cloudy communications including the fact that there was a unspoken "site visit deposit fee," to determine if these folks would be able to do the job, but the fee would subtracted, from the final amount. Then the contractor didn't have upfront funds to purchase the required materials and needed an "advance," to get supplies, then I was informed that they would need 2 additional advances to "pay his employees," to keep them on the job. The job was delayed due to the contractor overbooking other local jobs and then I was informed after inquiring about a completion date, I was told that his vehicle was broke down! After the job was done, I cited how the repair looked and I mentioned about a better clean up of our room, I was told that he had not included a "clean up fee!" In concluding our transaction, I asked for an invoice and any receipts and got none.

They showed up on time. 8:00AM in the morning as scheduled. A kid in his early twenties showed up. He brought no tools or what appeared to be knowledge of the job. The job was to fix a gas fireplace that keeps kicking off after a few minutes of use. He removed the artificial logs and literally blew, with his mouth, on the elements of the fireplace. He then continued to look at the fireplace with an absolute puzzlement not knowing what to do. I saw then it was not going to get fixed on this morning. I finally had to tell him it was cool and not to worry about it. For blowing on the elements and his absolute puzzlement, he still charged me $40. With reluctance I paid the kid. I shouldn’t have paid him but I did. That was 40 bucks not at all well spent. In all reality, I feel like I was robbed. Beware if considering this company for handyman work!!
