- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
The hourly rate includes 2 guys, a truck, and moving equipment. If it’s a bigger job that requires more men, it’s an extra $45 per man. There is also a 3 hour minimum and a $100 deposit that comes off final payment. There’s also a $100 cancellation fee. Drive time is factored into the final total(clock starts when the crew is in route to the customer).
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I’ve been in the moving industry for about 10 years now. I was introduced by a family member who had already been in this line of work and I stuck with it and learned all I could about it.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
We moved a couple to Houston, Texas. It was a pretty large job, but we really had a great time with the customers. They even offered for us to stay with them instead of getting a hotel. It took us about 22 hours total to complete it.
