FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
When we provide an estimate, we do so based on the materials needed (if we are providing materials), equipment, and the number of man-hours required to complete the job. We don't throw ballpark figures around. You will receive a detailed quote with a complete listing of material, equipment, and labor so that you know exactly where your dollars are going.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We like to meet with clients prior to providing a quote and "walk down" the job request: Review your plans, ideas, budget, make suggestions, etc. We will also get measurements and take pictures/videos of the work or space to be completed. We rarely provide an estimate on-site for the reasons mentioned above. Once we work up the bid, we will send you the estimate and discuss any items or revisions and answer any questions you may have. Upon approval of the bid, we will schedule a mutually convenient start date. For projects that are expected to take more than one day we will provide an estimated timeline and work schedule so that you stay informed every step of the way. When the work is completed, we will walk through the project with you again to confirm that everything done is to your satisfaction.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
From our About Us webpage: William "Dee" Dodson's experience in construction started very early in life. As soon as he was old enough to pound a hammer, he worked alongside his stepfather building custom cabins and homes in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Working under the direct guidance of a master craftsman at such a young age instilled in Dee the attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship which built the foundation of his work ethic and is evident in the projects completed by his company today. After relocating to central Florida and graduating high school in 1998, Dee immediately entered the nuclear construction industry. Starting as a laborer and working his way up through the ranks over the years he proved his ability by landing roles as Construction Superintendent with Top Secret security clearance. He began overseeing massive projects such as heat exchanger replacements and cooling tower construction, etc, all while adhering to the stringent nuclear and OSHA codes, procedures and policies. Between nuclear projects, Dee also became a master HVAC installer and has overseen the installation of commercial HVAC systems including the Crystal River Nuclear Power Plant and Laser Spine Institute of Tampa in addition to installation of residential units. In 2016, Dee accepted an opportunity to be part of new technology in protecting our country against new forms of foreign attacks: electromagnetic pulse (EMP). He worked with the R D team at Golden Sands General Contractors, now Omni-Threat Structures, to produce conductive concrete to protect against EMP threats. The projects in which he participated were the construction of conductive concrete dome structures to protect private and utility company data centers and the construction of conductive runways at a naval air force base to protect aircraft against EMP attacks. While the nuclear and EMP industries afforded Dee a massive amount of knowledge, experience and opportunities, they did not afford him the luxury of being home with his family on a regular basis. He now calls the Gulf Shores home and is proud to bring his knowledge and expertise to serve the residents and businesses of Baldwin and Escambia counties.
