I had the pleasure of working with Laurl Self on a kitchen reno in April. She had a great way of assessing my wants and needs. Because we were working across two states, she created a Pinterest board with examples and ideas we could incorporate into my project. At one point, I realized I needed to adjust something to pull my budget back in line. Laurl helped me choose a new tile for the back splash that I loved even better then the more expensive one I thought I ''just had to have'' to make the kitchen fabulous. She can work within a budget and still make the project look like it could be featured in a magazine with savvy choices in where you buy while keeping the project's aesthetic in mind.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
As an allied member of ASID and a LEED-AP id+c, I am required to complete continuing education hours every year. I love doing these because they make be a better and better informed designer.
Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I recently finished the living area in a downtown loft that made the cover of Birmingham Home and Garden magazine. The colorful space solved numerous design problems and the owner could not be happier.
