FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
For common alterations I have certain set prices; I also have some set prices for cushion covers, basic curtain panels, etc. When items are a little more involved I will start with that base price and add accordingly. I prefer a sit down meeting with the customer to make sure I have all the information I need.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
After a phone conversation describing what they would like done, I either meet with them right away or have them purchase fabric first and then meet with them. I work out of my home and customers typically come to me. Seeing the project is really crucial when giving estimates; although I do have set prices for certain things.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My training began at 12 years of age, when my mother, a home economics teacher taught me to sew. I have been sewing and improving my skill ever since then. I made my own wedding gown in 1986.
