FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Training begins with an in-home consultation to meet your dog, discuss the dog's behavioral problems, and collect any additional information about the dog and the home. This helps me to pinpoint the cause of the behavior and develop a plan around correcting the core problem, not just addressing the symptoms. Consultations are $50 for non-behavioral dogs and $75-$100 for behavioral issue dogs, including aggression cases. Multiple dog households are an extra $50 per additional dog. I offer tiered training packages. Training Packages as of January 2019: Tier I - $600-$1,500 for minimum of 4 sessions over 4 weeks, including equipment and 2 free follow-up sessions up to a year after package sessions are completed. Additional follow-ups beyond these 2 will be offered at a reduced rate. Tier I packages are typically recommended for puppy training and basic commands like sit, down, off, stay, as well as the Place command, recall, and leash walking. Equipment includes a training journal, documented training materials, a Place elevated dog cot, training loop leash, clicker, and training collar (if needed). Multi-dog package discounts are available. Tier II - $1,200-$2,500 for minimum 8 sessions over 8 weeks, including equipment and 2 free follow-up sessions up to a year after package sessions are completed. Additional follow-ups beyond these 2 will be offered at a reduced rate. Tier II packages are typically recommended for dogs with non-aggressive behavioral issues. This includes hyperactive dogs, destructive dogs, and dogs with disruptive levels of fear or anxiety. You will learn how to address your dog's behavioral issues through clear communication, developing a bond of trust and respect with your dog that will let your dog's self-confidence bloom. Equipment includes a training journal, documented training materials, a Place elevated dog cot, training loop leash, clicker and training collar (if needed). Multi-dog package discounts are available. Tier III - $1,750-$5,000 for minimum of 10 sessions over 10 weeks, including equipment and 5 free follow-up sessions within the first two years after package sessions are completed. Tier III packages are reserved for dogs with severely aggressive behavior. This could be food and water aggression, toy aggression, dog aggression, or human aggression. Equipment includes a training journal, documented training materials, a Place elevated dog cot, training loop leash, muzzle (required), clicker, and training collar (if needed). Multi-dog package discounts are available. A la Carte Sessions - $150 per session, does not include equipment or follow-up sessions. If you feel you do not need the extent of training our packages provide, you may ask for a la carte sessions. The trainer will make a recommendation for number of sessions, to be carried out once a week. Owners will receive a free training journal to record homework and progress between sessions, and a clicker. Any additional equipment recommended by the trainer will be the responsibility of the owner, and any additional sessions beyond those recommended by the trainer will be at additional, standard cost. Multi-dog a la carte sessions are offered at $75 per session per additional dog.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I take a more individualized approach to training. You have specific behavioral concerns, but those behaviors may be only symptoms to a bigger problem. I take the time to find the root cause of your dog's behavioral anomalies and give you the tools to not just address the symptoms, but fix the source problem.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have worked with dogs my whole life. At an early age I have contributed time toward fostering and training dogs for adoption for local rescues and shelters. I have only recently decided to contribute my experience on a private basis, to benefit not only dogs but the owners who wish to keep them and love them without concern for unwanted behaviors.
