FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Typically I charge by the sq.ft. for new construction, but with remodels and room additions, I have to price it on a case by case basis.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The process varies depending on the need, but we always start out with a tel con and a site visit so that I can understand what is needed. Typically I work in two phases: 1) Design 2) working drawings. In the design phase we help our customer figure out what they want, and in the working drawings phase we figure out the most cost effective way to put it together. - What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I grew up in a contractors home. Both my father and my older brother ran successful general contracting businesses and I began doing design work for them when I was 14 years old. I took classes through the Regional Occupational Program and was certified as a draftsman before I graduated high school. At that point I went to work in an architects office. I apprenticed under some of San Diego's finest residential architects including Jim Geldert, Don Edson, and Trip Bennett. I have provided drawings for over 500 new homes, and thousands of additions and remodeling projects in the San Diego area over the past 30 years.
