FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
For copy and line editing: 1 cent per word For developmental editing: 1.25 cents per word Minimum $15 Estimates may change from initial quotes based on the amount of editing I have to do, and I try to be as upfront as possible should this be the case. I'm always willing to work within clients' budgets.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First I try to understand exactly what they'd like to get out of their work with me. Are they looking for content editing? Copy editing? Both? I have them email me their drafts, and then I send my redlined versions back to them. We repeat this process as many times as needed until the customer is satisfied. I make it a point to stay in touch with customers even after a project is completed.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Master in Public Health in Social & Behavioral Sciences from Yale University. I also have an undergraduate degree in Gender & Sexuality Studies, Linguistics, and Child & Adolescent Mental Health from New York University. I recently completed an apprenticeship with elephant journal in writing, editing, journalism, and social media.
